It’s a rare fundraiser that doesn’t require money upfront to make it successful, but that is what’s happened with a project to raise funds for the restoration of a historic railroad depot in Ewing.

“We’re taking nothing and making money out of it,” Blake Hackman said.

Hackman, sponsor of Brownstown Central High School’s FFA chapter, was referring to a project in which chapter members have made crafts from wood taken from the roof and west side of the freight depot, built in 1910.
