Much like the Energizer Bunny, Aisin U.S.A. Manufacturing in Seymour just keeps growing and growing and growing.
The Japan-based auto parts maker sprang from a cornfield on the city’s east side 25 years ago and has repeatedly expanded, both in its footprint and in its work force.
The plant opened with 66 employees in 1987, producing door frames for the Toyota Camry, which was being built at a new factory in Georgetown, Ky. Today, Aisin’s factories cover more than 1 million square feet and employ 1,707 workers in Seymour, making a variety of parts for an expanded customer base that now includes Honda, Toyota Boshoku, Johnson Controls, Chrysler and Cummins Inc.
