One case of the swine flu has been reported this month involving a Jackson County resident.
A 3-year-old child from the county is suspected of contracting the flu during a visit earlier this month at the Bartholomew County Fair, said Lin Montgomery of Jackson County Health Department.
That conclusion is based on the four-day incubation period of the influenza A H3N2 variant virus, also known as swine flu, and when the child visited the fairgrounds south of Columbus, she said Tuesday.
The child, however, is part of a farm family that raises hogs. The family showed pigs at the Bartholomew County Fair, Montgomery said.
