Tea time comes to Jennings County

Sassafras tea, railroad history, Civil War re-enactment, old-time arts and hundreds of homemade pies make for a spring weekend in Jennings County.

The Jennings County Historical Society, the county historian, the Vernon Greys and other volunteers are planning for the society’s first festival, the Sassafras Tea Festival and Civil War Living History, slated for April 26 and 27.

Activities will include traditional arts, a working blacksmith shop, first-person interpreters, sassafras tea, mock battles, a Blue/Grey Ball, down-home cooking and hundreds of homemade pies and breads.
