Leading Class 4A No. 13 Floyd Central 2-1 in Thursday’s Senior Night volleyball match, Brownstown Central’s seniors came up big to close the match in four sets.
After losing the lead in the first set and falling 25-23, the Class 3A No. 4 Braves rallied with wins of 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 to give their seniors a night to remember.
Behind the serving of Abbi Shade and kills by Courtney Conrad and Kaylee Bennett, Brownstown pulled ahead 9-6 in the fourth set. Floyd Central’s Brooke Hinton later served three straight aces, and shortly after, the Highlanders led 19-17.
Once again, though, the Brave seniors came through. Shade got a side out and then served six straight times, including a pair of aces, to put Brownstown on top for good. After Floyd Central got a kill and Brownstown made an error, Bennett’s tip gave the Braves the match win.
