Rising river continues to create hazards; warning in effect through Saturday

Major flooding along the rain-swollen banks of the East Fork White River kept local emergency responders busy Sunday and Monday pulling motorists out of harm’s way and writing citations.

One of the more serious incidents involved a 17-year-old Scott County girl who was forced to wait Sunday evening in cold water on top of her submerged vehicle off State Road 250 until help arrived.

Shay White of Scottsburg handled the situation west of Uniontown about as well as could be expected, county Reserve Officer Scott Davis said.
