VERNON — A 12-year-old Jennings County boy was accidentally shot by his 16-year-old brother late Monday evening while handling firearms in their home, police said.
Jennings County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to a home in Sand Creek Township near county roads 1000 North and 275 West at 11:37 pm. Monday.
When they arrived, deputies learned that the 12-year-old had been shot in the head and was not responsive, Major Jerry L. Shepherd said Tuesday.
The 12-year-old was airlifted to Riley Children's Hospital from the scene and his current condition is not known.
