Jackson County Community Theatre will hold tryouts for the dinner theater play “Life After Dad” next month.
Tryouts start at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 at Royal Off-the-Square Theatre, 121 Walnut St., Brownstown.
“Life After Dad” is a comedy about a man who loved his wife very much but never told her in the 41 years of their marriage. On Thanksgiving Day and the first family gathering at the Lundeen household since Dad died, Dad comes back as a ghost with a mission: to tell his wife he loved her, something he now realizes that he neglected to do while he was alive.
The problem is, she can’t hear or see him. Only his middle son, Carl, seems to be able to see, hear and talk to Dad, and Mom has invited a gentleman friend to the gathering.
Cast members needed are Carl, the middle brother, aged 30s-40s; Mom, 60s-70s; Dad, 60s-70s; Michael, the older brother, 30s-40s; Jill, Michael’s wife, 20s-30s; Stacy, the younger sister, 20s-30s; Jerry, the gentleman caller, 60s-70s.
Stage crew and technical staff also will be needed. Anyone wishing to help backstage should attend tryouts.
Rehearsals in January and February will be held in Seymour. Any December rehearsals will be at the theater.
The show will be presented five times in February at the Pines Evergreen Room in Seymour. Elyse McGill is directing the show. Betty Baute is assistant director.
Show dates are Feb. 15 and 16 and Feb. 21 to 23.
Those trying out should bring a list of any dates that they cannot rehearse. For information, call 358-5228.
