Police investigating a theft complaint early Friday morning wound up arresting three women and two men on drug-related charges at a residence in a North Vernon subdivision.
Three of those arrested — Kevin V. Swindall, 23; James R. Hanna, 29; and Jessica A. Fisette, 26 — face Class B felony charges of manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, according to a news release from the Jennings County Sheriff's Department.
The three live at a home at 6420 W. Hickory Hills Drive in North Vernon. A 5-year-old child also was found in the home and removed by investigators with Jennings County Child Protective Services.
The other two arrested were Shey M. Richardson, 21, and Caitlin E. Barlow, 21, both of North Vernon. Both face charges of possession of a syringe, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. Barlow also faces a charge of violation of the Legend Drug Act.
The incident that led to the arrests began when Sgt. Dave Turner, Officer Allen Ritchie and a reserve officer responded to a theft complaint on Hickory Hills Drive. That complaint was reported at 1:58 a.m. Friday.
