Thefts lead police to Jennings County

A recent investigation into the burglaries and thefts reported at police training centers in Hancock and Shelby counties have led police to Jennings County.

As part of the investigation, police obtained a search warrant from a Shelby County court for a residence on West College Street in North Vernon, according to a press release from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.

Major Jerry Shepherd, the sheriff’s department public information officer, said a search of the residence led to the discovery of items taken in the two burglaries, including a sheriff’s uniform.

Shepherd said the investigation is ongoing and police anticipate the arrest of more people suspected in these crimes.
