The Crothersville boys basketball team celebrated homecoming in grand style Friday night by jumping out to a 22-0 lead after the first period and rolling to a 72-22 win against Martinsville Tabernacle.
Gene Hodge had a hot hand for the host Tigers, making a 3-point shot and all five of his 2-point attempts in the opening quarter to help Crothersville get off to a fast start.
The Tigers shot 10 for 21 from the floor in the first quarter, while the Eagles shot 0 for 8 and committed eight turnovers.
“The kids came out pretty well focused in the first half and played well,” Tigers coach Greg Kilgore said.
“I thought we lacked a little bit of focus a few times and had seven turnovers at halftime, which I thought was a little high, but we finished with 10. So in the second half, they kept the turnovers down.”
