The Class A No. 9 Springs Valley volleyball team proved to be too much for Crothersville in Thursday's Sectional 61 opener at Orleans, as the Blackhawks prevailed 25-13, 25-10, 25-15.
"Springs Valley definitely was beatable, but we didn't play with any intensity and shut down that second game, which hurt," Crothersville coach Zabrina Nicholson said. "For the first and third games, we played with them until about 10 to 11 points until they decided that they were done."
Kayla Schneider was the Tigers' top hitter, going 17 of 18 with seven kills.
Makenzie Long was 9 of 9 in serving, and Mackenzie Farmer was 9 of 10, but Crothersville (3-23) didn't have any aces.
