Timely rebukes not easy but better than alternative

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)

Rebukes and chastisements can be given either gently or harshly, but the intent is to get someone’s attention so they’ll change their ways while there is still time.

If Jesus hadn’t uttered his rebukes to the churches in the above-mentioned book, when would those churches and their members have understood that some of their actions were unacceptable? Probably when standing in judgment before God. Jesus thus showed his love by his timely warnings.
