INDIANAPOLIS — Trinity Lutheran and Indianapolis Tindley were tied at 6 going into the fourth quarter of Friday's football game.
But in the fourth, Tindley scored two touchdowns to Trinity's one for an 18-12 victory.
Dustin Nichols had a 25-yard touchdown reception from Jacob Stout at 8:16 of the first quarter for a 6-0 Trinity lead. Tindley evened the score in the second quarter with a score near the 7-minute mark.
After a scoreless third quarter, Tindley intercepted a pass by Stout and ran it back for a score with 10:09 remaining in the game. The Tigers added another touchdown, and all Trinity could answer with was Stout's touchdown pass to Nichols from 5 yards out with 3:05 on the clock.
Stout finished 10 of 32 for 145 yards with two TDs and three interceptions. Jacob Harless caught four passes for 40 yards, and Nichols had three receptions for 34 yards. The Cougars finished with only 40 rushing yards.
Defensively, Blake Thomas had six tackles and seven assists and recovered a fumble, while Nichols had seven tackles and four assists and intercepted a pass for a touchback. One of Tommy Davis' seven tackles was a sack.
The Cougars' next game is at 3 p.m. Saturday at home against St. Vincent de Sales of Illinois.
