Column: Today’s lesson - Avoid comparisons to Nazi atrocities



There are some historical events so horrible, so unspeakable, that they are unlike anything else in the human experience.

But that doesn’t seem to stop people from making comparisons, linking modern-day circumstances and situations they find unacceptable with unfathomable atrocities.

The latest to indulge in this foolish pastime is Indiana Treasurer Richard Mourdock, who compared this country’s direction to Hitler’s Nazi Germany in a speech at the Indiana Republican Convention this month.
