A group of local Japanese women have been busy getting ready for the 41st annual Seymour Oktoberfest.

Although the downtown festival highlights the area’s German influence and heritage, the Sakura Helping Hands likes to bring a touch of their own culture to the event.

Over the past year, the women have spent many hours making traditional and some not-so-traditional arts and craft items to sell at the festival, including origami ornaments, jewelry and flowers, toys, framed art, purses, knickknacks and decor.
