Transplant delayed at final hour



Emily Hume was sedated, waiting to undergo a heart transplant in the early hours of Monday morning when surgeons decided to cancel at the last minute.

Suffering from a form of cardiomyopathy, the seventh-grader at Seymour Middle School has been listed on the United Network for Organ Sharing since January.

A final inspection of the donor heart by cardiologists found it not vigorous enough for Emily, her family said Monday.
