Tri Kappa sorority seeking college scholarship applicants

Tribune staff reports

The state organization of Tri Kappa will award a variety of scholarships to college students throughout the state in the spring.

Each scholarship awarded is for $1,000, according to a news release.

Since 1914, Tri Kappa has provided more than $5 million in local and state scholarships.

Scholarship chairwoman Debbie Laitinen with the Seymour Associate Chapter is seeking applicants to sponsor for an academic scholarship given to students from each of 12 provinces in Indiana.

Additional scholarships will be awarded dependent upon the funds available. Each chapter may sponsor one applicant for each type of scholarship.

“Our area boasts numerous college students who are talented and would qualify for these scholarships,” Laitinen said. “We are hopeful that those students will be brought to our attention so we may begin the process of submitting an application for state Tri Kappa scholarships.”
