After giving up 18 points to South Decatur in Tuesday’s season-opener, Trinity Lutheran boys basketball coach Aaron Rudzinski said he told his team it had to tighten things up on the defensive end.
The Cougars responded to Rudzinski’s words and limited the visitors to 22 points over the final three quarters and posted a 55-40 win in the Bollinger Athletic Complex.
“In the first quarter, we didn’t play very good defense,” Rudzinski said. “We gave up 18 points, and we basically reconvened at the end of the quarter and told them that was completely unacceptable, that we weren’t playing very good defense.
