Trinity Lutheran honors spring athletes at awards banquet

Four seniors and two juniors received most valuable honors during Trinity Lutheran High School’s recent spring sports awards program.

For the boys track and field team, seniors Henry Welker and Matthew Zarick were named co-most valuable athletes, and those two and Nathan Murphy received senior awards. Zarick also took home the Cougar Award, while freshman Sam Marksberry was named most improved. The boys team won four meets.

In girls track and field, junior Angi Bergstedt was named most valuable. She set the school record in the 200-meter dash (26.51) during a meet at Jac-Cen-Del High School, and she was a sectional champion and regional qualifier in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
