While playing center field for the Trinity Lutheran High School softball team, Emily Currao said nothing compares to the feeling of making a running catch.
She has started in center field since her freshman year.
“I love playing defense,” Currao said. “I get to see the whole field, and if a ball is coming to the right or left fielder, I have to back them up every single time in case they miss a ball, and I have to back up second if a batter is stealing second base. That’s my job, to back that up.”
On a line drive, Currao said she relies on instructions from one of the other outfielders if she should run in or go back.
