Trinity Lutheran’s hopes of bringing home its third straight volleyball sectional title came up a few points short against the home team in the Class A Sectional 61 on Saturday night at Orleans.

The Cougars lost the first two sets by the score of 25-22. Trinity then turned momentum in its favor by winning 25-13, 25-10 to even the match, and the Cougars held a 6-5 lead in the fifth set before the Bulldogs went on a 7-1 run and went on to win 15-8 for its first sectional title since 2007.

Cougars coach Chelsey Hackman said a lack of communication and passing hurt her team.
