Voter turnout for non-presidential primary elections is never great.

Tuesday was no different across Jackson County as 4,932 of 29,461 registered voters — 16.7 percent — went to the polls or cast early ballots.

Turnout at Jackson 3 South precinct at Zion Lutheran Church on the city’s south side is typically low, poll inspector Kendra Zumhingst said. She described it as “terrible” this year.
