Two errors by Crothersville led to two runs for Springs Valley, and the Blackhawks held on for a 2-0 win in Tuesday’s West Washington Sectional action.
In the bottom of the third inning, Springs Valley’s Emma Goller led off by drawing a full-count walk. She went to second on Faith Wesner’s sacrifice bunt, and then when she rolled around to third base, Crothersville overthrew, allowing Goller to run home for a 1-0 lead.
“There wasn’t coverage on the base (third), and I think somebody had yelled at our second baseman to throw to third, but left field didn’t come in and cover, so there was confusion there,” Tigers coach David Baker said.
