Two Seymour parishioners finish training, join Stephen Ministries

Two individuals from the community of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, were commissioned Feb. 23 as Stephen Ministers.

They joined other St. Paul members who have been trained to provide one-on-one confidential, Christian care and support to people facing illness, sadness, change, loss or difficulties such as fear, pain or loneliness.

Commissioned were Karen Davis and Sylvia Rust, both of Seymour. They completed 50 hours of classroom training focusing on the importance of prayer and listening and how to provide support and encouragement without rushing in as an adviser or problem-solver.
