Two Jackson County residents have enrolled at the University of Evansville as freshmen, according to a press release from the university.

Christopher Patmore of Seymour is majoring in sport management. Laura Rommel of Brownstown is majoring in nursing.

Members of the freshman class averaged 1176 on the SAT critical reading and math components. (The national average, as reported by SAT, is 1011.) They also scored an average of 26 on the ACT, compared with a national average of 21. Members of the the 2012 entering class represent 31 states and 17 countries.

Founded in 1854 and located in Evansville, the university offers programs in liberal arts and pre-professional disciplines for its student body of approximately 2,400 full-time undergraduates.
