Prayerfully, everyone received some gifts for Christmas. Now, stop and contemplate on how those gifts measure up to the wonderful gift from God that is Jesus.
Some gifts are of such value that they are immediately put to use and will be used continually. Is Jesus of immediate and continual value? Whether a person is a sinner needing salvation, a new convert needing nurturing or a mature disciple needing additional strength and guidance, Jesus not only always has value but incomparable value.
Suppose you received a little bit of money. Money is needful, but it has the annoying characteristic of not being inexhaustible. What Jesus supplies — love, joy, peace — is what we require most and is always available to anyone who actively and frequently fellowships with him.
