Vehicle stranded on tracks; 2 face DWI charges



A report of a vehicle stuck on railroad tracks on Tuesday night in downtown North Vernon led to the arrest of two women, police report.

The women, Michelle C. Bentz, 26, of Hanover, and Sondra K. Hendricks, 50, of North Vernon, were arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 percent or greater, Officer Justin Black said Wednesday.

Black, the department’s public information officer, said the incident that led to the arrests began a little after 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when officers were dispatched to the area of the U.S. Post Office after receiving a call from a passerby about a vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks.
