Sarah Stuckwisch set the tempo for Monday night’s volleyball match at the start of the first set.
The Trinity Lutheran senior middle hitter scored kills on the first two points of the opening set, and she pretty much owned the net all night in helping the Class A No. 3 Cougars defeat Oldenburg Academy 25-8, 25-10, 25-16 in the Bollinger Athletic Complex.
Stuckwisch maintained her aggressive play throughout the first set, and her second block of the night gave her team a 5-2 lead. She served an ace to boost the lead to 11-3, had another block to give the Cougars a 20-6 lead and another kill to make it 22-7. Liz Hill recorded a kill for set point.
Stuckwisch started out strong again in the second set by recording a kill for a 4-0 lead. Haylee Barker served back-to-back aces to give the Cougars a 12-1 lead, and later Stuckwisch finished strong with a block, a kill and a tip for the final three points of the second set.
