Thumbs up to Jackson County United Way and its sponsorship of the AmeriCorps program, which recently finished its second year and is seeking paid workers for its third year of assisting area nonprofit agencies. Workers are gaining valuable work experience and helping agencies meet the needs of their clients.

Thumbs up to area coaches and other adults involved in organizing, staging and conducting a variety of youth academic, arts, sports and vacation Bible school camps across Jackson County. The programs involve children in worthwhile activities.
