Thumbs-up to Seymour Tubing and its plans for a $20.2 million expansion at its Eastside Industrial Park plant. The expansion will bring 18 new jobs to the factory, which makes a variety of auto parts for car makers, including those for assembling shock absorbers. The 18 new jobs should be on the company’s payroll by 2014. It already employs 462 workers, according to the company.
Thumbs-up to those in the community who have followed the warnings and tips from Jackson County Health Department concerning West Nile virus. We all need to take the time to rid our properties of old tires, containers and other mosquito breeding grounds. Those simple steps can protect ourselves, our families and neighbors from the pests and the diseases they can carry.
Thumbs-up to Jackson County Highway Department and its contractor on the swift installation of a box culvert to replace a bridge on Airport Road at Seymour’s Freeman Field. Early completion meant an early end to traffic congestion and some heated tempers that were caused by the closing of Airport Road on the city’s west side.
