Thumbs up to Mariah Huff of Brownstown. She was chosen 2012 Jackson County Fair queen and will represent the county this month at the Indiana State Fair.
Her court at the county fair included first runner-up Megan Quade of Seymour, second runner-up Haley Hackman of Brownstown and Miss Congeniality Kirsten Meyers of Seymour.

Thumbs up to the many residents who donated school supplies to the annual Stuff the Bus campaign sponsored by Jackson County United Way. More than 6,000 items valued at $9,500 were donated to the drive.

Thumbs up to the buyers of 235 animals at the Jackson County Fair 4-H Livestock Auction. Buyers made winning bids totaling $241,790 for beef, Boer goats, dairy beef, sheep and swine sold by Jackson County 4-H members.

Thumbs up to the Brownstown 8U youth baseball team. The young baseball players won the Ohio Valley Regional title in a recent tournament at Vincennes, Ind.

Thumbs up to Seymour Parks and Recreation Department for staging its annual End of Summer Escape at Shields Park.

Thumbs up to Jacob Wieneke, 14, Seymour, for his recent success at the 118th annual Indiana Trapshooting competition at the Indiana Gun Club in Fortville. He will represent Indiana at the National Trapshooting Champion of Champions event Thursday in Sparta, Ill.
