Thumbs up to Seymour High School freshman Jake Engel, Klaes Image Productions Inc. and others involved in staging, taping and producing the lip dub video that promotes the school. It was a cool project that brought students, faculty and administrators together.

Thumbs up to the folks at Jay C Foods Distribution in Seymour. It achieved what no other distribution center in the Kroger Co. has ever done — go two years without a reportable injury to the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Company officials recently recognized the workers for their accomplishment.

Thumbs up to employees from Walmart Distribution Center, Jackson County Bank, Home Depot, Jackson County Learning Center and Schneck Medical Center for creating canstruction projects out of nonperishable food products in the Build A Meal program to benefit local food pantries at Anchor House, Community Provisions and Jackson County Human Services.

Thumbs up to the Lady Owls track team, which captured the sectional title, racking up 132 points in the meet staged at Bulleit Stadium in Seymour. They beat out 12 other teams.

Thumbs up to the many volunteers and staff members of Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge for staging the recent Wings Over Muscatatuck. The annual event celebrates migratory birds and other wildlife at the refuge between Seymour and North Vernon. The refuge and its more than 7,000 acres are a real gem in the community.
