In facing football teams with athletes who were bigger, faster and stronger every Friday night last fall, the Seymour High School coaching staff knew it had to do something.
To get on the same level as their opponents, the athletes needed to be in a weightlifting class.
“We started the weight program off, more or less, when the football season ended,” Owls assistant coach Greg Hacker said. “We started with the Winter Warriors program. We had kids from all sports that came to that. We had 27 kids that went through it consistently.”
