Wine tasting, holiday dining on tap at program

Brownstown Fund for the Arts’ A Taste of the Season will offer area residents opportunities to spruce up their holiday gatherings.

“It’s a culinary adventure and wine tasting,” organizer Carol Brown said.

The event starts at 6 p.m. Thursday at W.R. Ewing in Brownstown and will include culinary demonstrations as well as wine tastings and how to prepare hors d’oeuvres.

Retired culinary arts teacher Lucy Dembek will provide demonstrations involving chocolates, garnishes and napkins. Adrian and Nicole Lee, owners of Salt Creek Winery, will provide wine for tasting, and Jordyn Hackman will provide hors d’oeuvres.

Recipes from the demonstrations will be provided to guests.

Brown said the event “will give new ideas on what people might be able to do that’s easy and fun.”

She said she hopes people find new ideas for entertaining they may not have thought of before.

“We’re trying to make things available to the community that they may not know is there,” she said. “There are a lot of things available that don’t cost and they’re right here.”
