Dr. Mike Neary, a Purdue University sheep specialist, will discuss winter feeding strategies after a drought during a meeting Oct. 23 in Salem.
The program will include feed and forage options this winter and into the spring, stretching the forage supply as well as the benefits of sampling and analyzing forages.
Producers will have the opportunity to mail forage samples for analysis at the meeting.
The program will start at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington County Government Building, 806 Martinsburg Road.
A public hearing of the Sheep & Wool Market Development Program will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 30 at Salem Public Library, 212 N. Main St. Attendance to this event is necessary in order for the program to be approved and acted upon at the state level.
