Woman gets probation in drug case

A 20-year-old Seymour woman will receive no jail time after supplying methadone to a man who died of a drug overdose.

Brooke Herron, who had just turned 18 when she was arrested, pleaded guilty to one count of dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance, a Class B felony, on Feb. 11.

Judge Bill Vance did not accept the six-year prison term Deputy Prosecutor Jeffrey Chalfant recommended and on Wednesday ordered Herron to serve six years of supervised probation. She also will have to complete a drug and alcohol diversion program.
