Woman injured in knife attack



A North Vernon man was arrested after his girlfriend was severely beaten and attacked with a knife on New Year’s Day, police said.

Jarel T. Haines, 36, of 1916 Country Manor, faces multiple charges following an incident at the couple’s Country Squire Lakes home, according to a news release from Maj. Jerry Shepherd, public information officer for the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department.
