Woman receives probation in drug case

A 20-year-old Seymour woman will receive no jail time after supplying methadone to 19-year-old Seymour man who died of a drug overdose in 2011.

Brooke Herron, who had just turned 18 when she was arrested, pleaded guilty to one count of dealing in a Schedule II controlled substance, a Class B felony, on Feb. 11.

Judge Bill Vance did not accept the six-year prison term Deputy Prosecutor Jeffrey Chalfant recommended and ordered Herron on Wednesday afternoon to serve six years of supervised probation. She will also have to complete a drug and alcohol diversion program.
