The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to route motorists around a new bridge construction site west of Hayden beginning Friday morning.
Both eastbound and westbound traffic will be shifted to a paved runaround on the north side of the state highway using a temporary bridge.
Lane widths are 11 feet.
The traffic shift will continue through mid-November.
The state’s contractor, Force Construction of Columbus, is building a 26-foot concrete drainage structure over a small branch of Storm Creek.
Unlike nearby bridges at Storm Creek and Mutton Creek east of Seymour, the new 3-sided structure will not require traffic stoppages.
All three bridges are spot improvement projects included in Force’s $21.9 million U.S. 50/North Vernon Bypass contract.
