An officer wounded in a shootout with an 18-year-old man Thursday has been released from the hospital and planned return to the scene of the incident Friday to talk about his role.
Officer Meyer was shot twice — once in each shoulder — Thursday while investigating a report of suspicious people on State Road 39 just south of Tampico.
The man suspected of shooting Meyer, Isiah T. Roger, 18, of Brownstown, was shot in the left arm in return fire by Meyer.
Meyer and Roger were both flown to I.U. Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Meyer was released at 11:30 p.m. Thursday and returned to his Seymour home while Roger was undergoing surgery to his arm this morning, Carothers said.
The shooting remains under investigation.
