MARION, Indiana — A section of Interstate 69 in northern Indiana has been reopened after being swamped with water from heavy rains overnight.

The highway was closed near Marion for a few hours Friday morning until the water receded. State police say at least a couple inches of water covered the lanes after the highway's ditches and median filled up.

The National Weather Service says 7 to 10 inches of rainfall has been reported in the area between Fort Wayne and Muncie.

State police Sgt. Ron Galaviz says one truck went off into a ditch in the flooded area of I-69 but no one was hurt.
