JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana — Jeffersonville officials are revising plans for a marina along the Ohio River after construction bids came in more than double the budgeted amount.

The higher costs stem from changes to the design after engineering firm Jacobi, Toombs and Lanz Inc. estimated the project's cost and increases in material and labor costs due to higher demand.

The News and Tribune (http://bit.ly/1wy0znr ) reports the initial bids ranged from a low of $3.8 million to a high of $4.9 million, excluding a million-dollar floating pier. The original estimate approved by the City Council was $2.2 million.

Mayor Mike Moore says the new plan will have fewer docks and include other changes to lower costs but will still cost about $3.5 million.
