ELWOOD, Indiana — A central Indiana woman has died from her injuries eight days after a head-on collision that killed her daughter.

The Herald Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/1pDk2y5 ) 81-year-old Carolyn Sue Shepard of Elwood died Saturday following surgery in an Indianapolis hospital.

Her daughter, 62-year-old Colleen Trentman of Elwood, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Aug. 7 collision on Indiana 37 in Elwood, about 40 miles northeast of Indianapolis.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said at the time that a vehicle driven by Trentman drifted left of center and struck a flatbed truck heading in the opposite direction.
