Friends of the Jackson County Public Library will have a special sale from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the large half of the meeting room at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

There are no special Friends-members-only sale hours on these dates. Items will be restocked continuously on each sale day.

Shoppers in the room will be limited due to social distancing guidelines. Masks for fully vaccinated attendees are optional.

Regular item sale prices are adult hardbacks, softbound books and music CDs for $1, children’s and young adult books and small paperbacks for 50 cents and DVDs for $2.

Anyone unable to visit the sale on any of these days or times can shop from the ongoing sales in the Seymour Library Book Nook or sales carts at the Crothersville and Medora libraries during regular hours.

Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of the Library or renewing their 2020-21 annual membership will find the forms at the sale, at the checkout desks or online at myjclibrary.org/friends. Annual dues are $5 for individuals, $10 for family, $25 for donor and $50 for benefactor.

Donations for the sales are now being accepted during regular library hours. Monetary or item donations without membership or purchases also are welcomed.

Items not accepted include books in poor condition due to broken bindings, missing pages or covers, soiled, musty, moldy, with smoke or water damage or with excessive writing in the text; cassette tapes; computer/software manuals or program discs; encyclopedias; magazines; non-commercially produced media; pornography; professional journals; Reader’s Digest condensed books; and reference material.
